.22 Nosler Ammo

The .22 Nosler is a centerfire rifle cartridge developed by Nosler, an American ammunition and firearms manufacturer. Introduced in 2017, the .22 Nosler was designed as a high-performance alternative to the popular .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO cartridges, specifically for use in AR-15 style rifles.

The .22 Nosler is based on a 6.8 SPC case, necked down to accept a .22 caliber (5.56mm) bullet. It boasts a higher case capacity than the .223 Remington, which allows for increased powder charges and, consequently, higher velocities. Typical bullet weights for the .22 Nosler range from 40 to 85 grains, with muzzle velocities varying from around 3,100 to 3,500 feet per second or more, depending on the bullet weight and load.

One of the main advantages of the .22 Nosler cartridge is its compatibility with the AR-15 platform. The only modifications needed to convert an existing AR-15 in .223 Remington/5.56 NATO to .22 Nosler are a new barrel and a 6.8 SPC magazine. The .22 Nosler offers improved ballistics and performance compared to the .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO, making it a popular choice among competitive shooters and hunters targeting medium-sized game and varmints at longer ranges.
